Pentaco Construction are delighted to handover a £1.4M Stories of Lynn Project. The works were carried out for The Borough Council of Kings Lynn & West Norfolk and included the construction of a new archive document store for the Borough’s historic records.
The opening phase included demolishing a number of internal partition walls between the existing small document store and general store rooms to create two larger spaces, which form the archives.
The undercroft store room at the rear of the building revealed three large fireplaces, which had copper vessels stills in situ. The fireplace structures and copper vessels, which provide a unique insight into the building’s past have been retained and are a feature in the new resource area.
The original jail cells and exercise yard have been maintained and form part of the new exhibitions exploring this aspect of the building’s past.
The existing rear courtyard tarmacadam surface has been removed to create a landscaped garden area.
Now works have finished Stories of Lynn is now open to the public.
We are very pleased to have been a part of a very historic and exciting project.
